NOTE: See Appendix A, section 0: “Test Access Link (TAL) Bus Extender” for cable
pinouts.
NOTE: Ensure all 8-wire CAT5 shielded cables are properly terminated to earth ground
using a shielded RJ-45 plug.
4.2.7.1 Test Access Link (TAL) Bus Extender
Step 1. Using 8-wire, CAT5 cable (see Appendix A, section 0: “Test Access Link (TAL)
Bus Extender” for pinouts/cable assembly), connect the test head to the master
MTAS shelf via the female TAPs/DATA 2 RJ-45 jack .
Step 2. Connect the female DATA 1 RJ-45 jack on the MTAS backplane to the female
TAPs/DATA 2 jack on the next (slave) MTAS shelf.
Step 3. Repeat for all shelves in the daisy-chain.

4.2.7.2 Inter-Shelf Communications Link (ISCL) Bus Extender
Step 4. Using shielded, 8-wire CAT 5 Ethernet cable (see Appendix A, section 0:
“Inter-Shelf Communications Link (ISCL) Cabling” for pinouts and cable
assembly), connect COMM 1 on the master MTAS shelf to COMM 2 on the
next slave shelf.
Step 5. Repeat for all shelves in the daisy-chain.
